Listed
on the National Historic Register, the 1824 House Inn resonates with
all the charm and elegance of yesteryear, while retaining the
convenience and comforts of today. The abundance of natural light is a
primary theme, as sunlight streams into the house. Richly colored
walls, hardwood floors, and numerous oriental rugs provide a rich
background for carefully selected antique furniture and artwork from
around the world. Our rooms have been described as "airy and
relaxing". The décor is eclectic yet warm and inviting. The Inn
has seven guestrooms each with private baths. The
Inn has few restrictions and guest are welcome in all areas. Food is
the focal point. Guests typically join us in the kitchen telling
stories, sharing the day's experiences, sipping wine and sampling
foods. We want people to feel comfortable and relaxed. You will find
the Inn warm, friendly, and home like while maintaining the quality
and standards of a fine European hotel. We are committed to your total
comfort and enjoyment. The living room is
large and cozy. A fire is a stoked nightly. Afternoon tea and treats
are available each day. Hors d’oeuvres and a complementary glass of
wine are served on Saturday evenings. The inn has an extensive
selection of CD’s and guests are encouraged to relax and listen to
music. An antique upright piano is available for guest use, as are
several board games. We do not have televisions in the rooms because we feel that it would
detract from the peace and tranquility of the inn. We do, however,
have a very informal TV room where guests can gather and watch cable
TV or videos.
