Children Activities

"Children Love Our Great Western Adventures"

Brush Creek Ranch offers 5 half-day programs which are included in a one week's stay. They are designed to teach children about authentic ranch life. We offer a variety of activities which include exploration, education and fun. Take a close look at the options below and plan your vacation with your child based on these activities. The children's program is specifically for ages 3-7; however, can be adapted to other ages as well. We also offer daily opportunities for younger children to ride while our wranglers provide appropriate guidance and instruction which creates opportunity for individual success. When a child demonstrates the necessary skills to ride outside of the corral, opportunity exists for them to do so providing both parents and instructor are in agreement.

  1. Visit with the wranglers and horses in our barn. Children acquire hands on experience while learning the ins and outs of horsemanship -- grooming, tack, hoof-care and riding. Everyone will have the opportunity to ride one of our beginner horses under wrangler supervision.

  2. Accompany our cooks to our special cookout site and assist them in "setting up camp." They will enjoy breakfast with the wranglers and their riders over the campfire. Following the rider's departure, they stay out on the range and learn all about the settlement of the old west.

  3. Enjoy a morning of exploring the wildflowers found around Brush Creek. During the group safari, learn to identify flowers, their names and any old Indian uses they may have.

  4. Explore the ranch and find evidence of wildlife while learning all about the animals who live there.

  5. Learn all about the tricks of the trade of a real live cowboy -- roping, branding and tending to cattle.

  6. Forge Brush Creek and learn all about the creek and it's ecosystem. ** Be prepared for your child to get muddy and wet.

  7. Children are exposed to brands and their meanings. They are given the opportunity to create their own brand to be used during the branding demo.
