Horseback Riding

We'll take you through some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen, with scenery changing about every fifteen minutes. Trail rides are for all levels of experience, and are also good photographic rides. These vary in length from 2 to 4 hours in the morning and a shorter ride in the afternoon.

Challenge/Advanced Rides
Rides on more difficult trails and which are also as fast as the riders' experience permits. Riders have to be checked out in the arena and be able to demonstrate their ability to sit well and control the horse at speed. These are usually 2 hours in duration.

Cowboy Adventure Ride /
Seasonal Cattle work
Ride with one of the cowboys and help them check fence, pack salt - or gather a few cows. Available on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and usually 2-3 hours in duration.

Adventure Rides
Extended distance rides, on easy or difficult trails, both slow and fast, depending on the trail in question. In some Adventure Rides we trailer the horses to the trail head, as these are all in more remote areas. The outings take most of the day, with the riding time being anywhere from 5-7 hours. Adventure Rides differ week to week, as we want to vary the riding as much as possible, and you would have to stay at the ranch for over a month before one would repeat.

Riding Instructions
Improve your riding skills and learn how to handle your horse from a professional riding instructor.
There are group lessons (at no additional charge) on Tuesdays and Saturday morning - usually lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour
What you will learn in a group lesson:
- Proper seat/riding position in a western saddle
- Correct use of legs/hands
- The basics of sitting a trot in a western saddle
- The basics of stopping and turning your trail horse
You can also schedule a private lesson at $50 per lesson, lasting up to one hour.

Cattle Drive

Every week, the horses will take you through the beautiful surroundings that make up the ranch and beyond. We understand that many of you wish to plan your vacation or holiday around the various day rides or weekly schedules on offer. To make this easier, we have condensed the rather bulky monthly calendar into highlights. This way you can determine quickly what is happening at the ranch and book your vacation.
The riding schedule is bi-weekly and is divided into two seasons. Our winter program runs from September through May and our summer program runs from June through August.
Currently we are offering daily trail rides, day rides and advanced rides. Every Sunday all of the rides make their way to a secluded area for the lunch cookout during the cooler months, and a breakfast cookout during the summer.   On Monday evenings you can do some gold panning with Jim.  On Tuesdays we offer the very popular Chiricahua National Monument off ranch ride. After dinner on Tuesday, order up a refreshing drink from our fully stocked bar and sit back and enjoy as Eve gives her history talk outlining the history of our valley, from the early Dragoons Culture people, to the Apaches, the ranchers and the miners. On Thursdays we offer another one of our popular off ranch rides to Old Fort Bowie, followed by a live music evening in the Longhorn Room - learn how to two step and line dance!!  On Friday evenings, if there is no moon, you can enjoy stargazing with our resident amateur astronomer Ed, and his computerized fancy telescope. Our clear atmosphere and no light pollution makes our area an astronomer’s dream!

The riding schedule is bi-weekly and the all day rides change depending on the week. For many of our return guests, knowing what rides are available is important for the planning of the trip.  To make this easier, the list below gives our riding calendar. There is also a link to the actual schedule so you can view the rides available.
