The Lipizzan Riding Center near
Sezana, a green oasis was established by the Austrian Archduke Karl of
Hapsburg in 1580 in order to breed the spirited Lipizzaner horses.
The colts have a brown or mouse-grey color while adult Lipizzaner are
predominantly white. The highly intelligent Lipizzaner originally served
as draught and parade animals, but now they are used as riding,
dressage, and carriage horses. Here the horses are trained according to
the rules of the Spanish Riding School. Hidden Trails now offers you the
opportunity to ride and train on these magnificent horses. The history
of Lipica is full of stories of emperors and rulers who admired the
white stallions so much, and of stories of Slovene peasants who remained
faithful to their white beauties
The Slovenian coast of the Adriatic Sea, with its mild Mediterranean
climate is a perfect getaway and only a couple of hours from Venice,
Italy.
The school horses are well trained and can do:

BEGINNER'S RIDING
COURSE

Minimum age: 12
The price includes 12 riding lessons (1 riding lesson = 50 min.) in a
group, 2 lessons per day over 6 days, with instructor. The riding course
comprises practical instruction to apply the riders aids in basic
exercises at walk, light/rising trot, and aids for gallop. Instruction
is held in groups of max. 4 participants - (beginners, or guests with
some riding experience). Participants obtain a diploma.
ADVANCED RIDING
COURSE

For guests who have a good command of the basic skills in riding.
The program consists of 12 riding lessons (1 riding lesson = 50. min) in a
group, 2 lessons per day with instructor over 6 days. This course
comprises correction and improvement of the rider’s seat and
applications of the aids at walk, rising and sitting trot, and canter.
Introduction to the light elements of dressage (serpentine, halt, change
of rein in circle, circle and volte, turn at the forehand). Instruction
is held in groups of max. 5 participants.
INDIVIDUAL RIDING
INSTRUCTION for Novice or Advanced

For novice and intermediate/advanced riders.
The program consists of 6 individual riding lessons (1 lesson = 50 min.)
with instructor, one lesson a day, over 6 days. This course is designed
for guests who wish a more intense riding instruction, as regards the
requirements and the content; it corresponds to the beginner’s or
advanced course in the group.
INDIVIDUAL RIDING
INSTRUCTION Dressage

For novice and intermediate/advanced riders.
The program consists of 6 individual dressage lessons
with instructor, one lesson a day, over 6
days with an instructor who is experienced in international dressage
sport events. The riders are trained and corrected in dressage elements
and exercises according to their previous knowledge. In the first riding
lesson the riders can get used to the horse, and be grouped according to
their riding skill.
HACKING FOR
EXPERIENCED RIDERS
The program consists of 12 riding
hours in a group in the surroundings of Lipica, 2 lessons per day
with a guide, over 6 days. There is no ride out in unfavorable weather.
This option can be added locally once the instructor has established
adequate riding skills.
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
For all riding courses is required prior arrangement and confirmation.
All riders must wear riding clothes and boots, in cross-country rides
also a riding cap. In dressage courses the riders are allowed to bring
the riding crop and spurs. The rider should have less than 85 kg- of its
own weight.
The arrivals are on Saturdays; the riding courses begin on Sundays.
Presentations of the riding school are:
Training Sessions:
Wednesday and Thursday at 12 noon.
Presentation: Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 3 PM
Accommodations and Facilities
You will be accommodated in one of these two facilities - the Hotel
Klub being closer to the riding center and the Maestoso having an
in-house casino.
HOTEL KLUB ***
Built in 1980, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the foundation
of the stud farm, the Hotel Club lies next to the ancient part of the
stud farm, its architecture reproducing the typical style of Lipica's
original stables.
The hotel's facilities include a day and night reception, restaurant, club
lounge, aperitif bar and lounge.
All hotel rooms have of a private bathroom with bath and hairdryer,
telephone, radio, some of them also a TV.
In addition to riding and golf, guests of the hotel have at their disposal
a fitness centre with solarium, sauna and massage.
Within the hotel there is also a dentist's surgery.
Visitors looking for peace and tranquility can take a walk to the Valley
of the Holy Virgin of Lourdes, located in the vicinity of the hotel.
HOTEL MAESTOSO ***
(available from May to September)
Centrally located, the hotel "Maestoso" derives its name from one of the
most famous stallions, bred at Lipica.
In 1999, the hotel was partially refurbished and equipped with modern
conveniences. The guest will thus appreciate comfortable rooms, all of
them having a private bathroom with shower or bath, hairdryer, satellite
TV, radio, telephone and mini bar.
In the hotel there is a reception, indoor swimming pool with a wide open
terrace for sunbathing, sauna, dining room, restaurant - snack bar, a
conference venue, hairdresser, garage and casinó - Grand Casinó Lipica.
