BC Sea
Kayak & Whale Watching Tours
- A Unique
Wilderness of Dramatic Contrasts - |
|
Canada's Inside Passage is a
glacier-carved waterway between the east coast of
Vancouver Island and the snow-capped mountains of
mainland British Columbia. Its hundreds of islands,
lush rainforest, profusion of marine life and the
highest density of Johnstone Strait orcas (killer
whales) anywhere in the northern hemisphere, create
an incredible sea kayaking environment. Summer
temperatures average 70-75 degrees F, and days are
often sunny. Paddling in the rugged beauty of these
straits and channels, past ancient sites of native
culture, is a magical experience reminiscent of an
earlier time.
Although the surrounding waters are home to bald
eagles, humpback whales, seals and porpoises, it is
the orcas that captivate our attention by blowing,
spyhopping and breaching. If the excitement of
paddling with orcas isn't enough, discover the
fascinating cultural history of the area. Among the
intricate network of lush forested islands, explore
ancient village sites and middens. Don't miss the
cliff pictographs.
Sea Kayak Adventures offers kayaking and camping in
the pristine orca waters of Johnstone Strait and in
the remote wilderness islands of Queen Charlotte
Strait. Our luxury lodge-based trips at God's Pocket
Resort are designed for those who wish to experience
kayaking without having to camp. All of our
adventures are based near northern Vancouver Island.
Our guides will spark your excitement and introduce
you to this wondrous land of totems and orcas.
How
did you arrange for orcas to greet us on the first
day and humpbacks to bid us farewell at the end? But
seriously, the trip met my expectations and more".
-- Ralph Parks, Johnstone Strait

Queen Charlotte
Islands |
|
|
Situated 100 miles off
the northwest coast of British Columbia, the
Queen Charlotte Islands
are a large archipelago, consisting of 2 main
islands and a myriad of smaller ones. Prior to the
1970’s, the natural and cultural wonders of Moresby
Island, the southerly of the two large islands
comprising most of the Queen Charlottes’ land mass,
were little known except to a handful of biologists,
archaeologists, and the Haida Natives. |
