Itinerary
This is a trail in a line, a real journey from one point to another. The first week that we offer will start in Siena; clients will meet our guide the first night for dinner to get information about the route and some advice for their visit of Siena. Next day is free for sightseeing in Siena; the start of their journey is the second day.
The week after our guest will start their journey in Proceno to end up in Siena – like the description shows.

Day 1:  Arrival
Arrival in the afternoon in time dinner and a discussion of the week ahead. The first night will be spent at the Castle of Proceno, a 12th century fortress built to protect the ancient hamlet. The surrounding region is full of Etruscan, Medieval and Renaissance monuments that testify to the presence of ancient civilizations. Dinner in the local trattoria with fantastic, home cooked pasta dishes.
Day 2:
Proceno – Radicofani
The whole morning you have the valley of the river Palia in front of your eyes with the fortress of Radicofani - your destination for today - high up on the other side. Passing the old boarder village from the former Vatican state to Italy - called Centeno. Ride along the old via Francigena that ran from France to Rome in the medieval time. A long uphill ride in the afternoon follows to the  top of  a hill chain with breathtaking views in both directions in two valleys. Accommodation is in a little simple hotel in the medieval town. Possibility for a walk through the town or a walk up to the fortress. Wonderful home cooked dinner, maybe with mushroom soup and wild boar?
Day 3:
Radicofani – Bagno Vignoni
We continue through the val d´Orcia, passing the famous country house of la Foce (residence of Iris Origo, noble lady that wrote books of this part of Tuscany). Riding along cypress roads and the most classical Tuscan countryside we head towards Bagno Vignoni. This old Roman SPA is very unique with a hot water pool in the middle of the square (nowadays its not anymore allowed to take a bath in this antique place). You take your accommodation just in front of this pool in the hotel Therme.

Day 4:
Bagno Vignoni - Montalcino
We continue uphill to Vignoni alto, passing in front of the castle La Ripa, entering into the Montalcino territory. We arrive in front of one of the most famous churches in Italy – Abazia di Sant Antimo. Lunch in Sant Angelo in Colle. We pass vineyards until we reach the city of Montalcino, where one of the most successful red wines of  Italy is produced, the Brunello di Montalcino.

Day 5:
Montalcino - Buonconvento
We ride on dirt road across from farming areas – we see huge hills for wine production of the famous Brunello. We then continue into one of the most classical corners of this part of Tuscany with beautiful scenic views. We ride downhill to the end of val d´Orcia in direction of  the very original village of Buonconvento, where we take accommodation for this night.
Day 6:
Buonconvento - Siena
Ride through Mediterranean wood, wine yards downhill with wide view in front of you in the direction of Siena. In the afternoon we pass some of the most beautiful country villas in the Siena district. We arrive at the stable just 5 km outside of the city, where a jokey from the famous Siena Palio keeps his horses. The riders get a transfer to their accommodation directly in the city. Last dinner all together.
