Long associated with British royalty,
the Sport of Kings came to Casa de Campo in the 1980's where it flourished and
became recognized as a renowned international polo resort.
Today, Casa de Campo still reigns as a paradise for the avid Polo player
and a must for those curious about the sport. No other resort offers the
facilities and staff with which to learn and play along side some of the best
known players in the world. The guiding force behind Polo here is Dr.
Julio Oriol. A doctor of veterinary medicine, Dr. Oriol spends the vast
majority of his time keeping Casa de Campo's polo ponies, riding and jumping
horses in top-notch condition while in his spare time he tries to get an
occasional polo match.
The Polo season at Casa de Campo begins in early November and closes mid-May
with matches played regularly throughout each week. Domestic and international
tournaments are organized during the season and teams are welcomed to enter.
The Polo facilities consist of three playing fields and one practice field; the
largest string of polo ponies under a single brand in the world; grooms and
stables. All equipment, every level of instruction and personalized
training is available for high-goal players and beginners. Guests may hire
ponies for stick and ball and Polo playing families can compete against each
other in matches held each week.
